Teeth Whitening – Give Your Confidence A Boost With Pola
Is the colour of your teeth preventing you from breaking into a smile? Perhaps they’re stained or tinged with yellow? Don’t worry, you’re certainly not alone in feeling this way, and we’re here to help. If your smile has lost its dazzle in recent years, then we have a number of teeth whitening options that will quickly solve your problem and give you back the gleaming white smile you long for.
Professional Teeth Whitening – Tackles all types of stains
If you’ve ever wondered why most celebrities seem to have dazzling white smiles, then it’s probably not because they were born that way but more likely that they’ve had their teeth whitened professionally. We’ve all seen the effects of teeth whitening but how does it actually work?
Before we discuss the science behind teeth whitening, let’s briefly touch on the different types of tooth staining. In essence there are two main types of tooth stain: extrinsic and intrinsic.
• Extrinsic staining refers to staining on the outside of the tooth enamel. This is commonly caused by drinks such as coffee, cola, and tea as well as from tobacco use and smoking.
• Intrinsic staining occurs when the inner part of the tooth (dentin) develops a yellow tint or darkens. This can be caused by factors including trauma to the tooth, over exposure to fluoride during early childhood, and even through being prescribed certain antibiotics.
If you’ve tried whitening teeth at home using special toothpastes or teeth whitening mouthwashes, then you’ll know that they’re not that effective. This is because they only deal with external stains and since they don’t contain any strong ingredients, there’s only so much they can do. To totally reverse the effects of tooth discolouration, it’s necessary to use a more advanced teeth whitening method which goes deeper to penetrate discoloured dentin. Say hello to Pola teeth whitening systems.
Time to Shine with Pola
At Ava Maria Dental we’ve always strived to deliver the best dental treatment to our patients which is why we offer the Pola system of teeth whitening. Depending upon your preference patients can choose from;
• Pola in chair treatment – where teeth whitening is carried out chair side in the dental practice, or…
• Pola Day and Pola Night take home treatments.
How it works
At the start of the teeth whitening procedure your dentist will identify your tooth colour using the Pola guide, which is also used to estimate how many shades whiter you want your teeth to look and whether or not that’s attainable.
Rather than bleaching just the surface of the teeth, Pola penetrates deeper to attack stain-causing molecules. Differing from other teeth whitening systems that use an activating light, Pola’s unique formula gets to work right away, dissolving and releasing its whitening agents immediately to kick start the procedure.
Protecting teeth and gums
Teeth whitening can cause sensitivity but Pola addresses this with their unique desensitising technology (PDT) that protects sensitive dental nerves. Combined with a neutral PH there’s far less risk of irritation to the gums, pain, burning, or long term gum damage. The end result is beautifully white teeth inside and out.
Without the hassle of light activation and stopping at intervals to check the level of whiteness, this speedy procedure can be safely carried out in under 60 minutes, meaning you could easily slot this teeth whitening treatment into your lunch hour!
Pola – Flexible teeth whitening options for day and night!
Since everyone is different, it’s good to know that Pola also provides the option for professional teeth whitening at home, in the form of Poladay and Polanight. You’ve probably guessed from their titles, that one system is for use during the day and the other for use over night.
It’s simple to use but very effective. Just fill the trays which are made to fit your teeth with the required amount of whitening gel provided and wear them just like mouthguard. In the case of Pola Day, patients can wear it for as little as 30 minutes during the day – or for even more convenience – use the Polanight trays before you go to bed and let it work its magic while you’re asleep. Noticeable results can be seen anywhere between 5-14 days.
